A Message from our President
Welcome back to KALS Fall 2026 Program.
The volunteers and presenters at KALS are proud of the program that we are offering our members. We have 59 opportunities for life-long learning in so many different areas. A huge thank you and congratulations to the volunteers on the Program Committee!
KALS owes another thank you to its members that have registered and signed up for courses. The new registration system (YKAnow) is hosted in Canada. We are grateful for your patience and persistence in registering as a member and for classes.
Over the summer, besides putting the fall program together, KALS volunteers have been working to inform our members about the change to the registration system. Volunteers have participated in interviews on CFJC, held information sessions for residents of Chartwell-Ridgepointe and Probus groups.
Another opportunity to learn about how KALS “works” is to attend the AGM on October 16th from 10:00 to 11:00 at the Kamloops Sports Centre event room. The President, Treasurer and Committee Chairs provide a review of efforts made in the last year to keep KALS moving forward.
Please consider being more than a member by becoming a volunteer on one of our committees or joining the KALS Board of Directors. There are vacancies on the Board for Vice-President and Directors-at-Large. KALS welcomes the support of new volunteers on the Program, Publicity, and Social Committees. We would celebrate volunteers with skills in technology, bookkeeping, and social media.

New Registration System
As previously mentioned, KALS’ new registration system is up and running. here is a guide:

There is a one-page Addendum to this Guide – “Registering for Courses” that lists the steps to follow for course registration.

KALS also has numerous offerings for September in visual and performing arts. Courses include presentations by Ila Crawford; Come to the Concert Series, with Rod Michell; Improv for Fun and Community, with Dan Ondang; two free Art and Conversation sessions at the Kamloops Art Gallery, with Kristen Gardner.

Seeking Volunteer Instructors
The KALS Program Committee is seeking volunteer instructors for Winter 2027. If you have an experience, expertise or field trip that you would like to share with curious KALS members, please reach out to our President Nadine Fort, or fill out the Contact Us form on the KALS website. If you have previously offered to be a KALS instructor and have not heard from us, please don’t hesitate to reach out again as we have had some growing pains with our website.
Future Newsletters and emails from KALS
KALS has chosen a Canadian owned/hosted emailing platform called Envoke, which will be implemented soon. Future newsletters will look the same. KALS will also be able to send short emails of essential importance to members.
A Note from our friends at the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra
The Kamloops Symphony Orchestra opens its 50th Anniversary Season with a special evening celebrating the orchestra’s past, present, and future, featuring JUNO Award-winning composer and Inuk soprano Deantha Edmunds: Saturday, September 25, 2026, Sagebrush Theatre.
