A Message from our President

Nadine Fort

Since becoming President of KALS in September, I have been privileged to witness the work of the behind-the-scenes volunteers who bring you our courses. Did you know that, while most of the efforts to offer KALS courses are performed by volunteers, KALS pays for everything from classroom space to our technology?

A registered charitable organization incorporated under the Societies Act of British Columbia, we are funded through membership fees and donations. We do not receive regular financial support from any level of government or from other charitable organizations.

This will be our 21st year! We thank you for your instrumental role in our success as an independent non-profit. Numerous similar organizations across Canada have folded in the last five years; however, KALS’ membership is steadily growing.

Please help to guarantee our continuing success by adding us to your 2025 giving list. This is as easy as clicking on the Donate button on the top right-hand corner of our website: Donate – Kamloops Adult Learners Society There, you can complete the donation online via Canada Helps and receive your tax receipt in minutes. Or contact Treasurer Mike Baker (mabaker@telus.net) to contribute by cheque or cash. Tax receipts on amounts of $25 or more will be provided.

Demonstrate your belief in the capacity of lifelong learning to enrich life and provide a forum for exploring knowledge and ideas as you help us keep our technology current and our fees low.

On behalf of the board of directors of the Kamloops Adult Learners Society, I wish you a safe and joyful holiday.

If you have a current credit in your account, please consider either donating it to KALS or using it when you register for Winter 2026 courses.

Celebrate the holiday season with the KSO!

KALS instructor and Board member Rod Michell has taught many classes in conjunction with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (KSO). We are pleased to share this offer from the KSO.

Not So Silent Nights offers the soundtrack to this time of year: festive traditions at Christmas with the KSO, the timeless wonder of The Snowman, the cinematic energy of The Music of James Bond, and our Hat Trick offer — three concerts for only $99. It’s the smartest way to elevate your season with exceptional music.

Explore our Holiday Gift Guide for thoughtful, musical gifts, and help us restock the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Necessity Nook with a donation at any performance or at Kelson Hall.
