To support the life-long learning programs you enjoy, KALS requires active members to join the board!
The KALS Board positions listed below will be open at the beginning of our 2025-2026 programs. Depending on your experience and familiarity with how KAL operates, one of these positions could be yours!
President (Jump in feet first!)
The President oversees the operation of the Society, chairs meetings, drafts agendas and assigns other Board duties. In the past we have had Co- Presidents that divided and accomplished all the duties of the role. A President could expect to engage in an average of 5-7 hours of Board related work per week.
Vice President (Maybe wade in the water first?)
The Vice President takes over the President’s duties if they are unable to chair meetings. The vice president may also assume leadership for special projects.
Director/Member at Large (A nice dry place to start)
This position contributes to KALS by attending Board meetings and may take on special projects or sit on other committees as interest and need arise.
The Board of Directors will be elected or affirmed at the 2025 September AGM.
Please contact Sue Holmes, KALS President to talk about how you can contribute to an organization which is committed to lifelong learning and personal wellbeing. You can be assured of a warm welcome from KALS’ current Board members!
Additional Need for Classroom Support
KALS needs volunteers who are comfortable with using Zoom to set up a virtual classroom for delivery of classes from instructors at remote locations. The classes are typically 4 to 6 weeks in length, 2 hours in duration, presented once a week. Zoom volunteers will have FREE access to the entire class. As delivery is usually from eastern Canada, 10 am is the typical starting time. KALS fall semester runs from September to mid-December; winter semester runs from January to June. Please contact Linda McMillan if you wish to volunteer or have any questions.
